Blood sugar balance is regulated by five distinct biological mechanisms. Most supplements target one. When even a single pathway is disrupted, the result is energy crashes, post-meal glucose spikes, and persistent cravings.
The problem with most supplements
Targeting one pathway leaves the others unaddressed.
Standard berberine supplements focus on a single mechanism — often at doses too low to produce meaningful systemic exposure due to poor bioavailability. Metabolism is a network. Addressing one node while leaving others unoptimized produces incomplete results. Glucose may enter the bloodstream more slowly, but without efficient cellular uptake, or gut signaling support, or insulin receptor optimization — the system remains incomplete.

Berberine has been widely studied for its role in glucose metabolism and AMPK activation — but its clinical utility is limited by extremely poor oral bioavailability. Standard berberine HCL is largely degraded before reaching systemic circulation, requiring high doses that frequently cause gastrointestinal distress. GlucoVantage® uses dihydroberberine (DHB), the active metabolite of berberine, which is absorbed up to 5× more efficiently. Human pharmacokinetic research shows that 200mg DHB produces significantly greater plasma berberine exposure than 500mg standard berberine — at less than half the dose.
Beyond AMPK activation, emerging preclinical research indicates that dihydroberberine supports endogenous GLP-1 secretion — increasing levels by approximately 95% in study models. GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is an incretin hormone that stimulates insulin release in response to meals, slows gastric emptying, and reduces appetite. This is the same pathway targeted by pharmaceutical GLP-1 agonists — activated here through a naturally occurring metabolite.

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid produced in the colon that plays a central role in gut barrier integrity, colonocyte energy production, and metabolic signaling between the gut and systemic metabolism. The gut-metabolic axis is an emerging area of research showing that gut microbiome health directly influences insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation. CoreBiome® delivers tributyrin — a stable butyrate precursor — that resists gastric acid and reaches both the small and large intestine, unlike sodium butyrate which is largely absorbed before reaching the colon. Clinical studies confirm CoreBiome® achieves colonic bioavailability, supporting microbiome balance and anti-inflammatory gut signaling.

Insulin receptor sensitization
Contains Type-A polyphenols (MHCP) that support insulin receptor phosphorylation, improving how cells respond to circulating insulin. Standardized for bioactive polyphenol content. Complements GlucoVantage® by optimizing insulin signaling downstream of AMPK activation.
GLUT4 glucose transport
Standardized to 1% corosolic acid, which activates GLUT4 glucose transporters — the cellular mechanisms responsible for moving glucose from the bloodstream into muscle and tissue. Supports efficient post-meal glucose clearance and moderates blood sugar excursions.
Carbohydrate modulation + sweet receptor signaling
Gymnemic acids — the active compounds in Gymnema — structurally resemble glucose and competitively bind sweet taste receptors in the intestine and on the tongue, reducing sugar absorption and perceived sweetness. Supports carbohydrate metabolism and may help moderate sugar intake behaviorally.
Alpha-glucosidase inhibition
Contains salacinol and kotalanol, naturally occurring alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase inhibitors that slow carbohydrate digestion in the small intestine. Reduces the rate of glucose release into the bloodstream after carbohydrate-containing meals, supporting smoother post-meal glucose curves.
Insulin signaling cofactor
An essential trace mineral required for normal insulin function. Chromium potentiates insulin receptor signaling and supports macronutrient metabolism, contributing to stable glucose utilization across carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism.
